우리들이 이번에 소개할 프로젝트는 좋은 일용품에 관한 다양한 활동을 전개하는 브랜드 TWL과 예술품과 일용품의 경계에 있는 공예품을 소개하고 전시하는 handle with care을 위한 공간설계에 관한 것입니다.
4층 건물 중에서 1층에서 3층까지는 TWL이, 그리고 4층에는 전시를 위주로 한 handle with care가 사용하고 있습니다. TWL의 경우에 3층으로 나뉘어 지면서 각 층마다 주제가 있어서 고객들은 각 층마다 또 다른 세계를 경험하는 재미가 있는 유니크한 공간으로 구성되어 있습니다.
우리들이 가장 중요하게 생각한 것은 수시로 바뀌는 상품과 전시품을 위한 시스템을 만드는 것입니다. 벽에 못을 박고 다시 벽으로 돌아오는 모든 과정이 원할하게 이루어 지는 재료의 선택이나 좁은 공간이지만 꼭 필요한 수납의 시스템을 만드는 것을 가장 중요하게 여겼습니다. 들어나는 시각적인 형태는 수시로 바뀌는 아이템을 위해서 애써 뽐내지 않고, 오랜 시간 자유롭고 유용한 공간으로 사용이 가능한 환경과 시스템을 만드는 것은 가장 기본적인 일임에도 가장 어려운 일이라는 것을 경험하게 한 프로젝트입니다.
The project we will introduce this time is about the space design for TWL, a brand that carries out various activities related to good daily necessities, and handle with care, which introduces and exhibits crafts that are on the border between art and daily necessities. Among the four-story building, the first to third floors are occupied by TWL, and the fourth floor is occupied by handle with care, which focuses on exhibitions. In the case of Twl, each floor is divided into three floors, and each floor has a theme, so it is a unique space where customers can experience a different world on each floor. What we considered most important was creating a system for products and exhibits that change frequently. We considered the selection of materials that allow the entire process of hammering nails into the wall and returning to the wall to be carried out smoothly, and the creation of a storage system that is absolutely necessary, even though it is a small space, to be the most important. This project made us experience that creating an environment and system that can be used as a free and useful space for a long time without trying to show off the visual form for items that change frequently is the most basic, yet the most difficult.
